The 3rd Annual CNY Flyers tournament was heldthis past weekend April 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the Skaneateles YMCA in the Duke Arena. There were four teams battling head to head to see who would claim to be number one. The tournament consisted of the CNY Flyers, WTU Mountain Warriors, Buffalo Sabers Sled Vets and the Albany Capital District Warriors.
Friday night kicked off the action with the first game played between the CNY Flyers and the WTU Mountain Warriors, both teams were playing their hearts out. The Flyers won this game 6-0, even though the score might not show it, WTU has a really talented and competitive team and a very skilled goalie. There goalie caught 5 or 6 pucks in midair as they were shot his way.
Game 2 for the Flyers occurred Saturday morning against the Albany Capital District Warriors. The face off was approximately 8 a.m., the game started off a bit slow 0-0 at the end of the 1stperiod but by the 2nd period all of the player must have started to wake up. Final score was 4-0 and the Flyers locked up their place in Sunday’s Championship Game.
3rd game was a matchup against Buffalo Sabresand for both teams this game was a warm up for the Championship game on Sunday since these were the teams going head to head for the title. Flyers were to come out on top 2-0.
Sunny morning started out by a challenge from Mother Nature. The weather was really bad, snow was coming down so hard you couldn’t see more than a few feet in front of you but that didn’t stop anyone from playing hockey. Once our players overcame the monkey wrench Mother Nature threw at them, the CNY flyers went on to win 2-0 and managed to defended the title for the second straight year.
Good luck to all participating teams, especially the Flyers, for next weekend’s competition at Disabled Fest in Michigan!!
