Hopeful Season By: Stephen Siracusa
The Philadelphia 76’ers are 10-5 in the month of January. They’re 18-29 overall for the season, which doesn’t seem spectacular, but the 76’ers haven’t done this well since Andre Iguodala left the team in the summer of 2012. If they can continue to play as hard as they have been this month, they still have a chance of going to the playoffs with 37 games remaining.
The 76’ers coach Brett Brown has a unique philosophy of coaching which finds him at odds with a lot of fans. The approach of continually trading players until he finds someone that is a perfect fit for the position is frustrating for fans but it seems to work this year. Although it is hard, fans need to give him credit for all his hard work this year. It appears the group that he has assembled now are starting to click. Ben Simmons hasn’t made his debut in the NBA due to his injury but fans are really hyped on him. Ben will be the ingredient needed to win a lot more games when he in fact returns. Until then we will just have to wait and see what happens the rest of the season. Being a 76’ers fan is always challenging but this year there is at least a light at the end of the tunnel.
