Heading into the final day of the ANA Inspiration Lexi Thompson leads the field. This is a familiar position for Thompson who was champion in 2014 and who led at this time last year but lost to Lydia Ko on the final day.

Currently Thompson stands at -13 two shots ahead of Suzanne Peterson of Norway.  Thompson started off hot with two birdies but had a string of three in a row at the turn and finished today’s round five under par. Peterson struggled at the beginning of her round with bogies on holes one and five but fought back through the rest of her round. Korea’s So Yeon Ryu slipped to third after today’s round.

Earlier this week Thompson opened up on her strategy for this course “I do hit a lot of drivers out on this golf course, but it’s really all in just keeping it in the fairways because they always grow the rough up pretty deep, and you don’t want to be hitting out of the rough to these firm greens.”

Tied for third are Ryu, Mi Jung Hur, Minjee Lee, and 2013’s champion Inbee Park. American’s Michelle Wie and Cristi Kerr remain in the top ten at -8.

Sunday April 2nd will be the final day to see if anyone is able to master this course as Thompson has the last several years.
